Plant Power. One method for ridding your property of moles, is to safeguard your plants. Line your plants' and flower beds' sides and bottoms with fencing. This should be ½-inch galvanized wire mesh. You can surround the base of each plant with the mesh. Another option is to position the mesh while preparing to plant a new flower bed. The mesh will prevent moles from destroying your plants, by uprooting them. However, the plants will still be able to grow.

Tunnel Traps. Another way to solve your mole problem is to place live animal traps in the mole's tunnels. Live mole traps are easy to create. Dig into a mole tunnel until you can place a coffee can or large jar into the tunnel. The container should be level with the tunnel's floor. Cover the tunnel to keep sunlight out. Then check the trap once or twice daily. After catching a mole, you can release it far away from your home. A small test can be used to determine if a mole is still using a tunnel. When moles create a shallow tunnel, you can simply stomp the burrow with your foot. Another method of locating molehills is to use a stick to prod around areas where several molehills exist. When you locate an area where the soil is weak, you have discovered an active mole tunnel. Damage a portion of the tunnel and then wait for a day. Revisit the tunnel at that time, to determine whether or not the mole has made repairs.

Brawny Barriers. You can also create a mole barrier made of gravel or concrete. This is one of the most merciful ways to rid your garden of moles. The barrier should be placed a minimum of two feet underneath the ground's surface.

Flooding. The flooding method is yet another way to rid your property of moles. First, locate a group of molehills in one area with an active tunnel among them. Then place a hose into the tunnel and wait until a considerable amount of flooding is achieved. When the mole tries to escape, you can catch it.

Mole Traps. The most effective method for eliminating moles is to set lethal traps. Lethal mole traps use various methods to kill the rodents. When live traps are used, moles can sense when a predator has damaged their tunnels. This will cause them to create a new tunnel. Additionally, setting deadly mole traps damages a mole tunnel less than live traps do.
