How to Cut Bangs
Going to the salon just to get your bangs cut is a waste of time and money, especially when, with enough time and practice, you can cut your own bangs at home. Many people are afraid to cut their own bangs for fear of cutting too much or cutting them unevenly. With practice and a few helpful tips, you will be cutting your own bangs perfectly in no time.

- Mirror

Instructions
- You can start with dry or wet hair. If you do not have much experience cutting your bangs, it might be better to start with wet hair, just because it is easier to cut. If you decide to start with wet hair, you must remember that hair shrinks as it dries. This means that if your wet bangs are at the top of your eyebrows, they could be as much as half an inch above your eyebrows once they dry. Make sure to leave your bangs a bit longer when you are cutting wet hair.
- Use your styling comb to separate the hair you want to cut from the hair you don't want to cut. Take the hair you don't want to cut and pull it off of your face. You can put it in a pony tail, tuck it behind your ears, hold it back with bobby pins or a headband--just make sure that your bangs are the only hair left hanging loose.
- Use your styling comb to divide your bangs in half.
- Take one half of your bangs and comb them down, taking care that you are combing from under the bangs (your comb's teeth should be pointing out). You can use the spine of the comb to decide where you want your bangs to touch your face.
- Start snipping your hair with the scissors. Point the scissors at a forty-five degree angle and cut slowly, a little bit at a time. Don't worry about cutting straight across because it is virtually impossible to cut bangs in a straight line.
- Repeat step five with the other half of your bangs.
- If your bangs are heavy, you can easily layer them. To do this layering, pull the bangs up between two fingers and let a little bit of hair fall down onto your forehead. Once one layer has fallen across your forehead, move your fingers up your bangs (a half an inch at the most) and then snip the hair that is between your fingers using the same forty-five degree cut you used in step five.
- Make sure that you don't stretch or pull on the hair while you are cutting it. This could result in an uneven or messy cut that will probably be much shorter than you originally intended.
- Bangs grow out very quickly, so even if you do cut them too short, they will probably be the perfect length in a week or two!
