- You will need to protect yourself adequately during the game. Before entering the game, you should wear all required safety equipment, including the paintball mask, barrels and eye goggles. It really hurts if you are hit in areas such as the knuckle and palm.
- It is very important that you develop your navigational skills.
- The fields or the area in which you will play paintball will often be quite complex so you will be of no use to your team if you cannot find your way around the field.
- Always keep yourself behind cover.
- Don't stay in one place for long, keep moving.
- Use the hurdles to your advantage.
- Make sure you are not in a position that can be easily targeted. If you get hit then you will be out of the game and your team will lose a player.
- Communication is a vital part of this game. But you will need to communicate as quietly as possible.
- Decide on hand signs and gestures before starting the game.
- Decide on a captain at the beginning of the game. Make sure that the captain knows the game well.
- Develop a plan at the beginning of the game. Usually this is the responsibility of the captain but the captain must also make sure that all team members contribute in developing the strategy.
- Unless you are in a tournament, avoid fully automatic or ramping guns. Using a fully automatic can result in your losing your ammo. Use a semi-automatic gun instead.
