How to Get Rid of Ants

How would you feel on a spring morning with ants around you? It is not a good and comfortable feeling. You would be irritated and start searching for ways to get rid of them. The basic step to get rid of ants is to know the things that attract them, like sweet food articles. Thus, it is advisable that you do not keep any such articles out in the open. Always keep them in refrigerators or in enclosed containers. In case any of the sweet articles falls on the floor, wipe the floor immediately as within seconds there will be hundreds of ants.

Ants are usually found in the spring months when the temperature increases. It is advisable that you refrigerate vegetables and fruits in summers, as ants and other bacteria are active in the hot months. Not only artificial sweets but also natural sweets in the form of fruit attract ants.

Clean your table immediately after having food, and throw away the leftover in the dustbin. Also, place the dustbin away from your home. Or else, have a dustbin that has a cover. In this way, ants will not be attracted to the leftover food articles in the dustbin. Do not let water stagnate around your house. Ants are attracted to stagnated water, since they get a perfect breeding temperature.

Ants can be eliminated with the help of any ant-repellent. You can spray the repellent on the anthill in your surrounding. Repellents are easily available in the market, and do not cost much. You can also use the home remedy of citrus and water. Regularly clean your house with a quality cleaner. Fix any fissures in your house, as it is the place from where ants enter your house. It is advisable that you either spray repellent or pour warm water on the crack. Water should be put in adequate amount on the crack.

Pest control can be done to eliminate ants in a particular location. However, this is only a temporary solution for eliminating ants. Another option is insecticides. The chemical is sprayed on the food of the ant, it then carries it to its residing place where the chemical is spread, thereby significantly reducing the ant population. The most commonly used insecticides are borax and boric acid, which are harmless for humans.

Red ants can be eliminated by using a method known as broadcast baiting. In this method, a chemical is sprayed on a large area like lawns with the aim of reducing the ant population. However, eliminating ants individually can be an ineffective task. It is advisable that instead of killing a single ant, locate the ant's harbor and pour hot water over it.
