How to Build a Pool Deck
A pool deck can be built with some lumber, and it has to have easy access to water. The technique used is easy and it will require concrete pier blocks that will support the system.
Step 1: First the floor has to be built, it has to be 6 by 2 in size. The boards can be joined with hangers
as well as metal corner brackets. About 17 of these frames will be needed. Once these frames are all assembled around
the pool, then the last one can be made.
Step 2: Next there will have to be posts that will support these frames, and these will be of 4 by 4 size, and
will be supported with concrete pier blocks. You need not dig any holes for these, and there is no need to use cement
either.
Step 3: The posts can then be set into the blocks, and the level of the pool must be marked on these posts. The
right thickness has to be measured, and then cut to length, so that they would be the height of the pool.
Step 4: The frames to the post must be fastened with deck screws, and a good level should be used so that the
posts are set right.
Step 5: Next some diagonal braces can be installed between the posts, and it should be angled towards that pool.
This has to be done around the deck perimeter. The deck boards should be laid parallel to a frame side, and the boards
must be cut in a size that will fit on the opposite side. These then have to be nailed in with deck screws. The deck
boards have to be allowed to run much beyond the deck framing. They can then be trimmed, with a saw alongside with the
joists.
Step 6: The main rail must then be screwed with a cap, and the cap should be of 2 by 4 size. It has to be
aligned in a way that it will be in line with the inside surface of the main rail.
Step 7: The guard rails will come next, and they can be spaced by 4 inches, and the ends that are beveled must
face down. Precut stringers can now be used to build the stairs, and they can be of 2 by 12 in size. They can be set on
concrete blocks, so that they will not sink into the earth or be affected by moisture.
Step 8: The upper end of the stringers must now be screwed to the joist. To save yourself a lot of time with
this construction, you can buy a lot of precut stringers and material. All you will have to do is get them into the
right length and then screw them in place.
One very important thing that you will have to ensure is that the sure the length of the material is correct and also that all of the materials are screwed in place firmly.
