How to Make a Paper Airplane
Step one: Get a rectangular piece of paper, preferably of A4 size.
Step two: Hold the piece of paper portrait, and fold it in half. You should now have a center crease that runs lengthwise.
Step three: Open the paper and fold both lengthwise edges so that they meet at the center crease.
Step Four: From one end of the folded paper, fold the two corners towards the center crease to form a triangle.
Step Five: Repeat step four, to get a smaller angle for the nose of the airplane. Check to see that all your creases are well aligned; this will ensure that your airplane will fly well.
Step six: Now fold the paper on the other side, along the center crease that you created in step two.
Step seven: Now for the wings. Fold the edges to make equal-sized wings. Your paper plane should resemble the one in the diagram.
Step eight: Hold the center, spread out the wings and throw to your heart's content!

A tip for your trip
This plane should be thrown overarm and horizontally. If the plane has been made correctly, it should fly straight and reasonably far. It is not the easiest job in the world to fold the plane so poorly that it crashes at the instance thrown.
