How to Clean a Plasma HDTV Screen

Plasma screens are becoming common

Today, the old box-type TV is being rapidly replaced by high-definition plasma HDTV. These TVs produce crystal-clear pictures and generate good quality sound as well. It is important to regularly clean the plasma HDTV screen. Dust settles on the TV and in the long term, the screen may become dull. So how do we clean the plasma HDTV screen? Let's have a look at some tips for cleaning the screen.

Plasma screens are shiny and glossy

Plasma screens gather dust easily because they are very shiny and glossy. They also tend to attract fingerprints. Therefore, the plasma screen should be cleaned regularly and carefully since it is very delicate.

Cloth for cleaning

The cloth you use to clean the screen should be very soft. It should not scratch the screen or damage it. You can use cotton or a cloth made of the finest quality micro-fibers. You can even use toilet paper or paper towels. If your plasma screen has anti-reflective coating on the glass, you can use certain special cleaners. Do not use cleaners that contain ingredients like ammonia, as they can easily damage the protective covering on the screen.

Read the manual

Do not forget to read the manufacturer's manual for your HDTV. The manual will contain cleaning instructions as well as warnings for cleaning your screen.

Use dry cloth

Most of the dirt can be removed with a dry cloth. If some dirt is still present, then you can use a slightly moist cloth. You can also use a mild detergent for cleaning the screen. Do not use the same glass cleaner that you would use on your home glassware or windows as a cleaner for your plasma HDTV. Use only special cleaners specially manufactured for the purpose.

Do not apply pressure on the screen while wiping. Some cleaners that are available in the market may contain harmful chemicals that can damage your screen. It may develop smudges and scratches if you use harmful liquids.

General care

You should prevent children and guests from touching the HDTV screen, as touching it will leave fingerprints and smudges. Do not let children play with a ball or bat near the screen, as they may hit the screen and damage it. Clean your screen at least once a week to prevent dust from settling on it.
