Step five: The hutch should have a strong roof or covering, particularly in areas where snow falls frequently. The cage should be at least 2 feet above ground level to allow airflow.

The second preference of a wire cage is a much best option for a rabbit hutch; however, it would be very difficult to build. In a hutch made of wood, the urination and droppings of the rabbits would damage it and the stench will also prove to be unhealthy for the rabbit.
